Beauty Tutorial : How I Enhance My Lips Using Charlotte Tilbury

How I enhance my lips Charlotte Tilbury Bitch Perfect Lipstick Pillow Talk Lip Cheat High Society Lipgloss Review Swatch

Beauty is all about working with what we have.  Thats why I love any products that allow me to look like me… but the very best version of me , of course!

I make it no secret, I have been loving Charlotte Tilbury lately. She makes products that allow you to look naturally pretty. I have been playing around with these three products over the last week and love each item individually but when put together they achieve a beautiful polished lip that is like nothing I have tried before.

The images above show (left) my natural lip and (right) my Charlotte Tilbury lip.

I achieve this natural ‘my lips but better’ look by using:

Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk £16.00

Charlotte Tilbury Bitch Perfect K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick £23.00

Charlotte Tilbury Lip Lustre in High Society £16.50

I start as I do before applying any lipstick. If you want your lips to look the very best they can, always start by smoothing a layer of lip balm over the entire lip.  This helps to prevent any rough patches and in turn helps with the longevity of your products.

I then use Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat to (quite literally!) Re-Shape and Re-size my lips as it promises to! I gently line my lips and then shade them in.  This is a modern way of applying a lip liner and prevents the Posh Spice look that was so popular in the 90’s! Applying this way will ensure that the lipstick does not fade during the day leaving you with lined lips.

When you are happy with the Lip Cheat, take your lipstick in shade Bitch Perfect and apply over the top.  You can use a lip brush if you prefer but on this particular occasion I applied straight from the bullet.

If you prefer a softer look then you can stop here.  By applying the Charlotte Tilbury High Society Lip Lustre you achieve a polished finish with a high gloss shine.  If you want to create the illusion of a fuller pout then apply the lip lustre to the centre of the bottom lip only.  This helps give a focal point to your lips and the shine you get from the light hitting the centre only makes lips look voluptuous!

I hope you enjoyed reading the first ‘How To’ post from Pretty Honest! I hope you found this useful and if you are looking for some products to create the very best version of yourself then perhaps you may consider these.

Have you tried these Charlotte Tilbury products? Can you recommend any other combinations for me to try? I would love to hear from you all!

Get Perfect Lashes with Charlotte Tilbury Full Fat Lashes 5 Star Mascara | Review

If you were to ask me what is the one makeup item I could not live without it would be mascara (ok…and maybe eyeliner too!) On those days when we feel a bit tired or under the weather, mascara can be our best friend. Some mascaras offer lengthening, curling or separation promises and on many occasions I have been left feeling rather disappointed with the results.  You may remember from a recent Charlotte Tilbury Haul I shared with you all that I purchased the Full Fat Lashes 5 Star Mascara.  This product comes with glowing reviews and I couldn’t wait to see if I agreed with my fellow bloggers.

I have been using this mascara since September, and I am just coming to the end of the tube so feel it is an excellent time to share with you all my pretty honest review.

Charlotte Tilbury Full Fat Lashes 5 Star Lashes Review

The mascara comes in an 8ml tube. Charlotte only makes the mascara in one colour; glossy black. The mascara promises curl, separation, volume, length and drama.

At first I was not all that impressed with the mascara. I found it very hard to apply and did not find it stuck to my lashes particularly easy.  I was close to giving up and moving back to my favourite Chanel mascara when I realised the results really do depend on how you apply it. Sure, you can apply the mascara in the conventional way but if you follow Charlotte’s instructions this mascara is simply mesmerising!

Begin by gently coating the lashes by resting the brush on the lash line and zig-zagging the wand up through the lashes.  When you are happy with the look, get the brush and pay particular attention to the outer lashes by brushing out.  It really helps to make them appear longer.  When it comes to applying to the bottom lash line, instead of using the brush horizontally, try applying holding the brush vertically and gently coat each lower lash.  By following these simple stages that Charlotte recommends, I am sure you will fall in love with this mascara too!

Perhaps my search for the one really is over?! I am so glad I stuck with it!

How I set my foundation | Chanel Natural Finish Loose Powder 130 Beige Lumière

How to set foundation Chanel Natural Finish Loose Powder 130 Beige Lumiere

Every now and then, a product comes into your life and you wonder how you ever lived without it. I was finding my oily skin was getting the better of my makeup come mid morning.  My usual regimen of using my NARS compact powder was just not enough to set my foundation around the T-zone. My nose was becoming increasingly oily and my eyeliner was constantly working its way down my cheek come the afternoon.

One of my first luxury makeup purchases was a Chanel loose powder when I was a teenager.  All those years ago I fell in love with the beautiful packaging, even if I didn’t really know what I was doing with the powder itself! I remember the powder lasting for years, it just didn’t seem to go down!

Fast forward a few years and after reading some positive reviews on the product, I decided to go back to Chanel and give it a try.  I thought that gently buffing a layer of translucent powder over my foundation would result in a longer lasting application. The powder comes in a dressing table worthy pot with a gorgeous high gloss Chanel lid.  It opens to reveal a soft applicator that picks up the loose powder from the pot in an even fashion.

I gently pat a generous amount on my nose, forehead and chin and then take my lovely Besame Finishing Brush to lightly dust the product over my face and buff into my skin.

Besame Finishing Brush Face Powder Review

The Besame Finishing Brush really is every bit as beautiful as it is useful.  This brush plays a big part in the finish of the powder and is so soft that it makes my face look airbrushed.   I cannot recommend this brush highly enough, and have not owned anything like this in the past.

The Besame Boudoir Long Hair Finishing Powder Brush is available from Sephora (they ship internationally, thankfully!) and is priced at $50.00 (approx £36.00) If you are thinking of purchasing a new beauty tool for the new year then consider adding this to your collection.  I promise you won’t regret it!

Chanel Beige Lumiere gives the face a lovely sheen and glow and stops your foundation looking heavy. It does not contain glitter so will not sit in fine lines or wrinkles and looks universally flattering on all from young to old alike! The pictures below show how the powder sits on the skin, and as you can see from the second image, my skin has a wonderful healthy glow.

The Chanel Loose Powder is priced at £36.00 for 30g of product, which for how long it lasts is very good value for money.

I would love to hear from you if you have tried the Chanel Loose Powder or indeed the Besame Finishing Brush.

How To Make Sure Your Eye Makeup Stays Put | NARS Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base – Review

NARS Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base Review Swatch

For those of you – shall we say, ‘blessed’ with oily skin, you will no doubt feel my pain when it comes to applying eye makeup.  Who knew eyelids could get oily?! I certainly didn’t!  I have to work really hard to make sure my makeup stays in place and an eyeshadow primer is a must in my daily routine.  Having well and truly jumped head first onto the NARS bandwagon I decided I would treat myself to the Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base.  This product is a polymer and mineral based blend that help with making our eyeshadow or eyeliner stick exactly where it should.

NARS Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base Review Swatch

The primer comes in a tube with an applicator, much resembling a lipgloss.  I don’t however like to apply the primer directly to my eyelids as I don’t think this is particularly hygienic.  Instead, I pop a little on my hand and then apply with my fingertips.  As you can see from the swatch above, the product is a cream but disappears once blended into the eyelid (as pictured below).

I am impressed with this primer and it has become my new ‘must use’ product in my morning routine. I love how it makes my eye shadow colours brighter and more intense.  It has also stopped the eyeliner smudges I was getting that were becoming an almost daily occurrence. This, paired with the fact it has also prevented my eyeshadows from creasing is definitely good news.  There is nothing more disappointing than blending your eyeshadows only to find they have separated and moved up to your eyebrows half way through the day!

For extra staying power, I can recommend using the Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray.  A brilliant combination, and well worth a try!

NARS Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base is priced at £19.50 and is available from NARS counters and at various online stores nationwide.

I would love to hear from you if decide to try this product out, or indeed if you can recommend any other tips for oily skin!
