My MDM Flow lipstick collection & my very own custom colour!

It has certainly been a while since I last shared with you a blog post, so I wanted to make my come back post a good one! Have you heard of MDM Flow and her beautiful collection of lipsticks? If the answer is no, and you love bright vivid colours then I strongly recommend you test these out when you see them.

I was lucky enough to meet Flo on a recent shopping trip to Bath.  She was sat in the Anthropologie store offering customers a unique custom blend lipstick totally made for their requirements.  What more could a lipstick lover like myself wish for?! I was totally submersed in girly heaven for about half an hour while Flo asked what my usual colour was and mixed up a custom blend just for little old me! I was amazed as she blended my colour adding a little more blue, and a little more red until she had it…. the official Pretty Honest Beauty Blog Lipstick! Once I was happy Flo set it in her machine and then popped the bullet in to a pretty gold case.  My Dad was with me at the time, and even he was amazed by Flo’s talent.  I’m so pleased I stumbled across this once in a lifetime chance to have my own lipstick made.  MDM Flow sell a collection of lipsticks and liquid matte lipsticks that are certainly unique.  I have four in my collection so far, Panther a vivid candy pink, Milkshake which is an optical illusion of appearing milky white in the bullet and transforming in to a bright pink that intensifies as you rub your lips together. I also have one of her liquid matte lipsticks in Empire State which is a traffic stopping bold dark plummy pink shade that does not budge and I mean does not budge!!

Below are the swatches of my shades. If you would like to see the look on my lips then just let me know and I will certainly share this with you all!

Top to Bottom:

Panther, Milkshake, The Pretty Honest Blog Lipstick and finally Empire State.

A Little Introduction To The New Charlotte Tilbury Scent Of A Dream Eau De Parfum! | Review

How excited was I today to come home to a little unexpected parcel from Charlotte Tilbury?! This was made even more exciting as I first read about this stunning new perfume on her website last week.  I received a sample size of her new perfume and the cutest little key of attraction charm and ribbon!

Scent of a Dream is the first perfume by Charlotte Tilbury.  With Kate Moss as the face of the scent and prettiest dressing table worthy bottle I have ever set eyes on!

What I like about this perfume is that it contains oils that Charlotte has been personally wearing for years.  This adds a personal touch to the product.  I also love the thought process behind this perfume.  The idea that perfume can attract others and change the energy of people around you by reacting with your bodies pheromones!

The secret behind the formula is a blend of top notes including lemon, peach and black pepper, floral heart notes and a base including hedione, ambroxan and fire tree. It also contains Iso E Super, a fragrance addition that I find utterly irresistible.

So, what does Scent of a Dream smell like? Utterly stunning! I sprayed the perfume onto my wrists and the scent initially was very fresh but developed into a lovely warm scent that really is like nothing else I own.  Which, for a perfume connoisseur is quite something!

This perfume is a real head turner and (I’m sorry Mr Bank Manager) I will definitely be purchasing the full size bottle which launches on Charlotte Tilbury online on August 15th and nationwide on September priced at £49.00 for 30ml.  I can’t wait to enjoy this perfume on a regular basis!

Revlon Cherries in the Snow Lipstick Review & Swatch | Lipstick Monday!

Cherries in the Snow by Revlon is one of those lipsticks that will, in my opinion, always be a classic.  The makeup industry are constantly bringing us new shades (much to the pain of my bank balance!) but very few colours stand the test of time.  Cherries in the Snow was first released in 1953 by Revlon and is a real classic.

In my opinion, nothing is more beautiful than a classic red lipstick.  There really is a colour for everyone and I suit a red with a pink undertone. Cherries in the Snow is the perfect red for me as it is just that. A cool/blue red mixed with raspberry pink.  This is the prettiest lustrous colour that contrasts against my fair skin tone and dark hair perfectly.

Cherries in the Snow is very heavily pigmented and saturates my lips in colour.  Application is always a dream as the colour glides on effortlessly.  The lipstick does have a lustrous sheen and I usually avoid vibrant colours in this finish for fear of lipstick teeth, but I don’t find this to be a problem with this particular colour.

Perhaps one of the best things about Revlon Cherries in the Snow is the price at £7.99.  An absolute bargain for a stand out lipstick in both formula and colour.  I would thoroughly recommend adding a little vintage glamour to your collection and taking a look at Cherries in the Snow next time you pass a Revlon stockist.

Cherries in the Snow (and yes, I totally would buy this shade for the cute name alone!) is the perfect way to brighten my mood on a Monday!

Have you tried this classic red? I would love to hear your thoughts!

NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in shade Tea & Cookies Review & Swatch | Lipstick Monday!

It has been a very exciting week for me!  NYX has officially landed in Boots stores on the British high street! For those that don’t know, NYX offer niche products at competitively low prices while still being of an excellent quality.  I was a little pushed for time so had to glance over the counter quickly so my first purchase was this little beauty.  The NYX Liquid Suede Lipstick in Tea & Cookies. Being a big Kat Von D liquid lipstick fan, this product had high standards to meet.  So, how did it compare?  ….. Very well indeed!

The packaging is rather basic, and nothing special but does the job nonetheless! The applicator is soft and the product glides onto the lips effortlessly.  Tea & Cookies is a soft beige pink that is just the right amount of pink to stop it being too pale for my colouring.  The long narrow applicator makes applying to the contour of my lips easy.  The matte lipstick was not too drying, and did not settle into the lines on my lips anymore than what was expected with a matte liquid lipstick.

The lipstick unfortunately did not last very long, and transferred easily on my tea cup. It lost the colour a little in the fullest part of my lip, migrating slowly towards my lip line after a few hours, but that said in this natural shade I found this was not overly noticeable and priced at £6.50, I really don’t think you can ask for more!

I would love to hear from you if you too have recently discovered NYX has set up home in your local Boots store! Have you made any purchases?!

L’Oreal Infallible Matte Max Lipstick Like a Virgin 002 Review & Swatch | Lipstick Monday!

So, here we are again! The end of another Monday and the chance I get to sit down and share with you all the lipstick that has got me through the first day of my working week.  Today, in honour of the sun well and truly coming out I decided to try my new L’Oreal Infallible Matte Max Lipstick in Like a Virgin – a lovely summary pink shade.  This new concept of lipstick really excited me when I was browsing the shelves of my local Boots.  I love my matte lipsticks for longevity so couldn’t help but buy one to try out!

Like a Virgin 002 is a pretty pink that goes on much lighter than it appears.  They contain micro-oils that leave your lips feeling velvety soft.  Before using the lipstick, I apply a thin layer of concealer over my lips.  This gives the colour something to ‘grip’ to and makes the colour a little more intense.  The applicator has a lovely soft sponge tip, and I lightly tap all over my lips building up the colour to my desired finish.  Creating ombre lips would also be easy with this product, and I would be interested in buying another colour to try mixing them.

Now to the important part.  Yes, it gives a very pretty delicate finish but unfortunately it just doesn’t last very long! This is a real shame as everything else about this product is fantastic! That said, I would still purchase again but I would recommend buying a darker or brighter shade than you want – to ensure the colour stays put or at least fades to still leave a hint of the colour it once was!

You can purchase the L’Oreal Infallible Matte Max Lipstick for £6.99 from L’Oreal stockists.

The Perfect Way To End The Day! The Experimenter By Lush

After a busy day at work, nothing can help me unwind quite like a nice hot bubble bath with a lovely bath bomb from Lush.  Shopping in Lush always makes me feel like a child in a sweetshop. There really is so much choice that it is impossible to leave empty handed!

The Experimenter by Lush is a real visual and scented experience! A plethora of bright colours, glitter and a rich vanilla scent.

The bath bomb fizzes in the bath water, and momentarily turns your bath water into shades of blue, gold and purple before finishing with a green colour.

You can purchase The Experimenter for £3.95.  It is one of the more expensive bath bombs on offer at Lush, but for a particularly special bath every now and then,  one that I would recommend.

Roll on bath time!….

Chanel Garconne Le Vernis Nail Polish Review & Swatch

I have a very short post for you all today, but one that I have been looking forward to sharing with you since I posted my little review of Chanel Organdi. My manicure of the week in Garonne is one of the latest additions to the Chanel nail polish line, and is a lovely colour and unlike any other in my collection.

Garconne is a grey colour with warm undertones.  The coverage is lovely and rich and applies very easily and gives a lovely smooth streak free coverage.

To achieve this particular finish I applied two coats of the Garconne nail polish and a top coat of Out The Door Fast Drying Top Coat.

You can purchase the Chanel Le Vernis nail colour for £18.00 from Chanel counters nationwide.

Estée Lauder Pure Colour Envy Lipstick – Dynamic 410 Review & Swatch | Lipstick Monday!

Mid tone warm neutrals seem to be my ‘thing’ at the moment! My lipstick colour of the day is very similar to last Mondays when I shared with you all my new MAC Finally Free lipstick.  However, this particular colour is particularly special.  It is almost butter soft, incredibly long lasting and moisturising too! I really can’t fault this lipstick at all!

I don’t own many Estée Lauder lipsticks, but a fellow blogger recently pointed me in the direction of the brand.  The colours on offer are very similar to Bobbi Brown and the layout of the counter makes finding a colour to compliment you very easy indeed.  I settled for Dynamic 410. A mid-tone rose shade that, albeit a warm tone, rather suits my fair complexion.

The lipstick packaging is rather luxurious with a weighted lid and magnetic closure giving that rather appealing ‘click’ after application! The lipstick has a lovely sweet vanilla scent (and taste!) – a little reminiscent of MAC!

The lipstick glided on effortlessly to my lips, and the shape of the bullet made precision application rather easy too!  The lipstick gives a lovely shine to my lips and the colour lasted a good 5 hours.  Given that it is a Bank Holiday here in England today, I was not at work so I was drinking a little more than I would on a usual day but the colour still withstood the dreaded teacup!

You can purchase Estée Lauder Pure Colour Envy Lipstick  in shade Dynamic 410 from Estée Lauder counters for £24.00.  A reasonable price for a high end lipstick, but one that certainly won’t disappoint! I think I may be adding a few more Estée Lauder lipsticks to my collection over the coming months!….. Well, when you like the formula you may as well buy in every colour!!

MAC Finally Free Lipstick Review & Swatch | Lipstick Monday!

I have been excited about getting my hands on this lipstick for some weeks now! I’m first to admit I’m not a fan of anything Kardashian related, but when MAC announced a collaboration with Caitlyn Jenner I couldn’t help but want it – especially when I saw how unusual and pretty the colour was.

Finally Free is a beautiful rose pink nude in a cremesheen formula.  At first glance Finally Free is a ‘suit all’ red tone but once applied it is a lovely wearable every day pretty rose shade.

The lipstick applied effortlessly and is everything you expect from a MAC lipstick.  The colour longevity was good, only muting after drinking but still leaving behind a pretty sheen.

Caitlyn Jenner created Finally Free to suit all ages, all races and all sexes.  I am really impressed with this colour and can see myself getting lots of wear out of this lipstick.  I don’t own any colour like it and for that reason would recommend purchasing it if you are looking for a new shade.

Finally Free is available exclusively online at MAC and priced at £15.50. 100% of the selling price goes to the MAC Aids Fund Transgender Initiative to further the work in support of transgender communities.

Do you like the finish of Finally Free on my lips? I would be really interested to hear your thoughts!
