Benefit Gimme Brow Light/Medium Review | February Product Of The Month

Apologies for the ever so slightly late product of the month for February, but I am sure you will totally understand when I say it was because I was waiting to get my eyebrows threaded before sharing it with you!

I have brunette hair, yet for some reason very fair brows.  It was only in recent years that I started to colour my brows with product to try and help define my naturally fair brows against the contrast of my dark hair.  I couldn’t help but wonder why I wasn’t doing it years before! Personally speaking, I am not a fan of the dark, heavy, almost painted on brow that seems to have become popular over recent years , and that was what had initially put me off trying this product.  However, as my brows are particularly sparse and fair, I decided I would try this out and was delighted when I was given this as a gift at Christmas.

Benefit Gimme Brow is available in two colours – Light / Medium and Medium / Dark. My shade is Light / Medium which is perfect for my fair complexion. It is a nice natural brown colour that translates well once applied.

This brow volumizing fibre gel promises to adhere to the skin and the hairs for fuller looking brows.  To use, I gently stroke the brush tip along the brow to define the shape.  I then use a brow comb to brush the fibres through the hair and neaten up the finish.

My reasons for awarding this my product of the month are not only because I think the product is easy to use, but also because of the ability to actually stay where I apply it! I don’t know about you, but I have very oily skin that gets worse as the day progresses (I can only thank working in a warm office environment for this!) and I have found on the odd occasion I have used other products, that the product works its way across the centre of my brows! The Benefit Gimme Brow Gel will not create a full brow look, and will not create  hairs that are not there, however it does thicken up any brow hairs you have that are in need of a little extra volume.  I think this is a really natural way to enhance brows and for that reason, is a winner in my book.

You can purchase Benefit Gimme Brow for £18.50 from Benefit counters or stockists.  You get 3g of product and I have used it more or less every day since Christmas and I have plenty left.

I hope you found this post useful.

Pretty Honest Beauty Blog January Product Of The Month | Margaret Dabbs Crystal Nail File | Review

I am a little behind with awarding the January Pretty Honest Beauty Blog Product Of The Month, but there is no mistaking who wins! My product of the month is the Margaret Dabbs Crystal Nail File. I have not looked back since using the foot file from her range and still, all these months later, love it and derive all the benefits as much as I did from initial use.

After much research I discovered Margaret Dabbs also have an exciting collection of products for the hands. I thought I would try out the crystal nail file, and I am absolutely delighted I did!

The file is slim, relatively lightweight and very effective. I use this file on both my hands and feet ensuring I only file in one direction.  I find that this file gives a smoother and finer finish to my nails and makes shaping them incredibly easy. I have filed my way through many nail files in my time and this one is by far the best. I do not feel this file puts any pressure on my nails when filing them, as minimal pressure is required in order for this to work.

You can purchase the Margaret Dabbs Crystal Nail File for £12.00.  This file will last for some time and for an item that gives such salon quality results is an absolute bargain!

You can purchase the Margaret Dabbs Crystal Nail File from various outlets including Feelunique.com and Margaret Dabbs online.

Margaret Dabbs is fast becoming one of my most trusted brands, and I can’t wait to try out more from her range.

Have you tried the Margaret Dabbs Crystal Nail File? Do you have a favourite product from her range that you can recommend? I would love to hear from you!

Pretty Honest Beauty Blog Product Of The Month November | Jo Malone Vitamin E Body Treatment Scrub

Product of the Month Jo Malone Vitamin E Treatment Scrub

There was absolutely no doubt in my mind which product was getting crowned with the product of the month award for November.   I get particularly dry skin from a combination of the harsh elements and central heating.

Jo Maline Vitamin E Body Treatment Scrub Review

Jo Malone Vitamin E Body Treatment Scrub is the one and only product that is guaranteed to put a glow back into my skin.  A wonderful luxurious treatment that sloughs away surface cells to reveal radiant looking new skin.

Jo Malone Vitamin E Body Treatment Scrub Review

Jo Malone Vitamin E Body Treatment Scrub Review

I like to apply this scrub while I am in the bath.  I take a small amount from the tub and rub it into my skin paying particular attention to my elbows and knees.  The scrub leaves the skin with a lovely oily residue that makes my skin water repellant! After drying my skin, I like to apply a thick layer of body creme to really take advantage of my glowing skin.

The Jo Malone Vitamin E Body Treatment Scrub is priced at £70.00 for 600g.  A little does go a long way.  It is expensive but so worth it!

Not only is this scrub excellent for reviving dry parched skin, it is also good in the summer before fake tanning.

So there we have it.  November’s product of the month! I hope this has inspired you to have a little pamper and prepare your skin for the party month!

Pretty Honest Beauty Blog October Product Of The Month | Oribe Impermeable Anti-Humidity Spray

Product of the Month Oribe Impermeable Anti-Humidity Spray Review

Another month over and that means one thing here at Pretty Honest HQ. Time to crown the product that has won my heart in the month of October.  This months award goes to Oribe Impermeable Anti-Humidity Spray.

Product of the Month Oribe Impermeable Anti-Humidity Spray Review

I have been using this product for some time.  It has seen me through the humid summer months and is also proving equally as useful now the weather is getting colder.  Some people may be wondering why I am using this spray in Autumn, but my hair is very flyaway.  I spend time in the morning carefully straightening my hair and applying my Oribe Gold Lust Nourishing Hair Oil and Shu Uemura Hairspray to set it.   I get into my car with not a hair out of place, drive to work and then something happens.  I walk into work and it all goes wrong! The affects of the weather no matter what it is, mixed with the unpredictable nature of my flyaway course yet fine hair make for a less than optimal hair day!

Oribe Impermeable Anti-Humidity Spray has, I am somewhat pleased to report, put an end to the hair problems encountered above! This spay is a protective, vitamin-enriched finishing spray. This spray shields my hair from the elements and therefore prevents any resulting frizz. It works on both straight hair or curled hair and the scent is absolutely amazing!

This spray dispenses in a easy to control fine spray, and coats my hair evenly.  After styling and using my hair oil, I like to tip my head upside down and spray this under my hair working it through with my hands, and then up-tip my head and spray on the top.

I purchased my Oribe Impermeable Anti-Humidity Spray (200ml) from Space NK for £37.00.  It is expensive, but really does do the trick and I don’t have any other product like it.

Have you tried any products from the Oribe collection? Do you also suffer with my hair problems?! I would love to hear your thoughts!

Pretty Honest Beauty Blog Product Of The Month | Nail Apothecary Gel Shine Top Coat

BLOG PRODUCT OF THE MONTH_edited-1

You may have guessed by now as it is pretty clear to see, I am utterly addicted to all things beauty! I therefore wanted to make a new monthly blog post where I award those products that have been worth every penny.  So, what has won my heart this month?

The winner is! …….

Nail Apothecary Gel Effect Top Coat Review

Nail Apothecary Gel Effect Top Coat!

The beauty aisles are full of gel effect top coats at the moment.  It seems that every brand going has one for sale.  Not of course that I am complaining – I absolutely love the effect of a high gloss shine!

Boots had a buy one get one half price offer recently so I decided to take advantage and try this brand out.  I am so glad I did, I can honestly say that this top coat is amazing! I posted my manicure of the week yesterday You can catch up here, and this was the top coat I used.

Nail Apothecary Gel Effect Top Coat Review

This top coat is described as using special new nail polish acrylic materials to act as a plumping effect on the base of the nails. This means when applying a standard nail colour,  the nail polish looks visibly lifted and creates a gel like look on the nail.

I did wait for my nail polish to dry before applying the top coat.  It went on thickly but was not difficult to apply.  It was fast drying, and when you have got used to using Seche Vite this is a must!  The finished result is a high shine, long lasting manicure that lasts well over a week.  And, perhaps most impressive I did not get any shrinkage of nail colour that I usually get when using a fast drying top coat.

I am so impressed with this product, and would recommend you try it out if you get the chance.

Nail Apothecary Gel Shine Top Coat is priced at £6.95 and is available from Boots.
